About Us

Like many, we dreamed of living in a charming, old cottage by the sea. What started as a distant wish became a reality when a series of fortunate events fell into place. We sold everything – lock, stock, and barrel – and moved into rented accommodation temporarily. Then, just as we were settling in, the unexpected happened: lockdown hit.

During this time, Warwick’s long-standing job at Rolls Royce Aero came to an end. While this was a challenging moment, we decided to turn the situation to our advantage and took a leap of faith. A beautiful but neglected cottage kept catching our eye. When lockdown restrictions eased, we finally decided to view it – and instantly fell in love with its character and its fabulous location.

Warwick rolled up his sleeves and set to work on the transformation, while Claire worked from home, keeping us financially afloat. Five years of hard work and dedication later, we’re nearly there – the cottage is almost complete

Throughout the journey, we’ve been inspired by the incredible support we received on social media, where we shared our progress. The positive feedback and encouragement helped us push through the toughest moments.

Wherever possible, we’ve salvaged, recycled, and repurposed materials, ensuring that we preserved the original charm and character of the cottage. We’ve also embraced our creativity, repurposing driftwood and seaglass to create beautiful, unique pieces – which is how our cottages got their names.

Living here has been the best decision we’ve ever made. We’re surrounded by nature, with the coastal paths just a stone’s throw away. The local wildlife is breathtaking, and we never fail to marvel at how lucky we are to call this place home. To share this beauty with others, we converted the barn attached to our house into two cosy, unique holiday cottages.

Though compact, both cottages are entirely unique and full of charm – you won’t find anything quite like them. The cottages date back to 1765, according to the Thomas Jeffries map of East Yorkshire, but their history goes back much further. We were even featured on BBC’s *Villages By The Sea – Flamborough* episode, where historian Ben Robinson suggested the cottages could date back to the Tudor period, or even as far as medieval times.

Both cottages offer their own small, enclosed garden and a parking space on-site – a rare luxury in the village. While we live on-site, we respect your privacy and will only be visible if you need us. If there’s anything we can do to make your stay more enjoyable, don’t hesitate to ask. We want you to have the best possible experience and, hopefully, return for another stay.
